When the boy she loves is sent off to face a sorceress across the deadly spore seas, a girl who collects cups sets out to rescue him herself.

Review

Tress was a great book. It is silly and comical, and it has enough relatable quotes to make you feel like you could be in the story.

The world works as a great standalone story, and for those who have read other Sanderson books there are enough in-jokes and references to keep everyone happy.

Discussion Questions

  1. Tress is ordinary, practical and not “chosen”. What did that change about how the adventure felt?

  2. Who was your favourite member of the Crow's Song's crew, and why?

Quotes

One of the great tragedies of life is knowing how many people in the world are made to soar, paint, sing, or steer—except they never get the chance to find out.

Even small actions have consequences. And while we can often choose our actions, we rarely get to choose our consequences.

It might be said that Tress had a way with words. In that her words tended to get in her way.
